There are three modalities available:
Thermolysis- High frequency current is delivered to the hair follicle using a probe. The high frequency current will create heat in the follicle that will destroy the dermal papilla and the bulge area of the follicle. Once these areas are destroyed, no new hairs can grow in that follicle. This is the fastest modality and has the fewest contraindications.
Galvanic- Galvanic current is delivered via the probe. The current changes the salt and mositure in the hair follicle into lye. The lye is caustic enough to destroy the cells that can grow new hairs. This is the slowest modality.
Blend- The blend modality combines the chemical reaction of galvanic electrolysis with the heat of thermolysis into one treatment. The galvanic current creates a chemical reaction using the salt and water in the hair follicle. The result is lye. The lye is heated by thermolysis which gives it movement in the follicle and speeds up the process over galvanic alone. This modality works well on curly hairs or distorted follicles.
